At the 2009 National Bank Summer Kick-Off held at Virginia Tech (May 23, 24), New River Rapids U13 Blue won the U14 division championship after a penalty kick shootout (4-2) against Strikers of Gaston County U14. The game was tied 2-2 after two overtimes. The team also won in 2007 (U11) and was a finalist in 2008 (U13). The team is in the Final Four in the Virginia State Cup, which will be held in Williamsburg on May 30 and 31.

The NRUSA U13 Boys defeated the Loudon 95 Red Team 1-0 to advance to the Virginia State Cup Semi-Finals. Their next game is on May 30th in Williamsburg. GO RAPIDS!!

NRUSA U-12 blue defeated the FASA Elite 4-0 in Richmond on Saturday, May 16 to qualify for the semi-finals in the State Cup. 

A-Division Champions, That's What She Said

Congratulations to That's What She Said for winning the Spring 2009 A-Division Adult Title.  They were able to hold off a very strong and competitive Blackwatch team, through two overtime periods, to win the match 3-1.  Thank you to both teams; well done. 

B-Division Champions, Fusion FC


            
B-Division 2nd Place, Rivermill FC



Congratulations to Fusion FC for handing Rivermill FC their 3rd consecutive 2nd Place finish in the B-Division.  The final for the match was 2-1 after two overtime periods.  A well played game on both sides of the ball.

The U12B Rapids Blue defeated McLean MPS Fire White 1-0 on Saturday, May 2nd at Blacksburg Middle School Field 2.  The Rapids got a first-half goal and made the lead hold up throughout the second half.  With the win, the Rapids advance to the State Cup Quarterfinal round facing the Fredericksburg Hotspurs (FASA 96B) on May 16th at 2:00PM in Richmond.

In the first round on Saturday, April 18th, the Rapids defeated the Chantilly Knights 3-1.

5/9/09.  Congratulations to the NRUSA Rapids U13 Blue Team for winning their second game in the Virginia State Cup!

The Rapids defeated the Richmond Stikers Elite team 3-2 on their home field at Striker Park. The decision came down to a penalty kick shootout. At the end of regulation the score was 1-1 with a first half goal by Asa Britten off a cross from Andrew Kim. In overtime, Garland Smith scored off an assist from Adam Ferguson.

The U13 boys defeated Lynchburg United in the first round 2-0.

This victory moves the team into the State Cup Quarterfinal field of 8 where they will play Loudon Red.
