TSP Futsal

Members of NRU, winter is almost upon us and with that comes the exciting, fast-paced, world of futsal!! But what is futsal? Futsal, is a variation of indoor soccer that uses a smaller, heavier ball to drastically improve the technical ability of a soccer player. Games are played with 5 players for each team(4 field players and a goalie). Teams are formed using players from both rec and travel sides of the club in.  Individuals are all placed on teams based on level of experience.  We do our best to form teams of even strength to keep the games fun and exciting for all.  Teams outside of NRU are also allowed to enter as full teams.

Futsal is open to ALL players U9-Adult, so whether you are a rec, a travel, or an adult player; the TSP/NRU Futsal league has a spot for you!

Season runs from Jan. 2 - Feb. 25 for Youth and Jan. 17 - Mar. 24 for Adult .

We are all very excited about the upcoming futsal season, and I wanted to take this opportunity to layout our objectives with this league. The purpose of having a futsal league, is to create the highest potential, for every player in participation to develop. It is meant to be a fun, stress free environment, for the kids, and adults who are playing, to develop their techniques on and off the ball. Our goal is to create fun matches that encourage the players to attempt new skills and to push themselves, without having to worry about their win loss record.  We cannot stress enough that the league is built for development, not championships.  As parents, please convey this to your players.  It really needs to be seen as an organized pickup event where players, coaches, and parents get to know one another and watch players try knew things, instead of worrying about the scoreline at the end of the match.

We are all competitive by nature, me being one of the more competitive people you will ever meet, but please remember that although we want our players to push themselves to compete to win, we don't want that to be the focus of this league.

We will once again do our best to form the most even teams as possible, however due to late registrations, late dropouts, player inconsistencies, etc etc it is not an easy task.  Many coaches will form "even" teams during trainings that end up being very lopsided on the scoreline...happens all the time.  We will be taking a look at the team scores after the first 3 weeks and making necessary team adjustments if we need to.  This will take place only if teams are losing by a large amount each game.  Again, with the correct understanding of the purpose, we will once again have a very successful futsal league that all of our players can and will enjoy.
